Focus on Your Dream Job
November 16, 2008 by Admin
YOUR dream job means the goal is to discover that special position you deserve and desire. Happiness in your career means you get up with excitement, doing what you enjoy, feeling good about yourself, your contribution to the success of your employer which equals your success.
Now, our challenge is making a choice. How do you choose the “right” career path. Is there only ONE career choice that can be your dream job? We don’t think so. Lots of good possibilities exist and our search begins with a methodical process of research, study and focus.
You’re a Harley motorcycle rider, a church organist or piano player in the local bar, you mix drinks at parties, maybe play the drums or blow the trumpet and the list goes on forever. Unfortunately, many folks choose the wrong career in haste rather than taking the time to do research, talking with others about their career likes and dislikes. Often take short-term jobs in places that are appealing but end up a disaster or a disappointment.. not what you expected.
Keep searching every day until your career path is obvious and you’re ready to make a commitment in your own business or working for an employer. Either decision will have challenges to overcome. There are no perfect jobs that I can think of today, but you may find it.
Get a law degree or qualify as a heart surgeon by way of your academic achievement, maybe you do have a good idea of your career path already. My guess is you’re not so fortunate when your degree is less focused. Now we have a challenge as to what to do with our education in the marketplace or workforce for greatest income reward as well as personal contribution and happiness.
My guess is you’re searching for ideas to avoid making a bad decision and ending up in a career path short on reward and personal satisfaction. Our goal is to give you some ideas on selecting the right career. Actually, it’s not as difficult as you may think. Two little words cause many folks to stumble and that’s to take ACTION.
Overlooked Career ideas
There’s more than a “hot” careers list even though it’s worth knowing what’s being promoted. Awareness is very important but not necessarily the only search mode. Many jobs and/or careers are discovered through friends simply by spending time talking, searching, and listening. Never close any doors as your future career choice may be in the next curve. One idea can open discussions about something you’ve never thought about before now. You’ll never regret the time spent in your search and discovery of your dream job.
Let’s review your talents, education and skills because your future income and employment depends on what you can bring worth “buying” to an employer. A very simple idea is often overlooked. Employers expect employees to make a contribution to their profits, not their expenses.
So many questions must be answered before good career ideas surface. Only you have the answers. Do an inward search on who you are, your skills, your talents, education and all else that is YOU…. now you’re on track to discover your future career path.
Career Change or ideas may be tomorrow
Typically, job and career changes happen several times over a lifetime so don’t get discouraged. Planning is your key to success. Set a goal for your journey. Research the marketplace for a place to begin and start today.
Developing a career plan is not easy. Running your own business is not easy. The more valuable you are to an employer the more your income will be as a result of what you contribute to profits as an employee. In conclusion, career ideas are everywhere. Keep your search on auto-pilot. Just because you are ‘here’ today has nothing to do with your future when you know where your journey is headed and you’re the pilot.
