Book excerpt: In order to study the factors effecting the decomposition of the intermediate phase gamma Ti3Al tentative partial isothermal sections at 1000, 850, 700 and 600 C were determined. The effect of certain Beta stabilizers on the de composition rates was also studied. Uncertain ties in the binary Ti-Al system in the range of 7-15% Al are now being studied. Following com pletion of the phase diagram work, three se lected 8 pound ingots will be melted, curves determined and mechanical properties evaluated. (Author).
