Book excerpt: Excerpt from Damaged and Threatened National Historic Landmarks: 1991 Report Section 8 of the National Park System General Authorities Act of 1970, as amended, requires the Secretary of the Interior to monitor the status and condition of National Historic Landmarks and National Natural Landmarks and to report annually on those which are threatened or damaged. This Section 8 Report is therefore prepared by the National Park Service each year and is submitted to Congress in two parts, the first for National Historic Landmarks, and the second for National Natural Landmarks. Part I of the 1991 report lists and describes those Landmarks which are threatened or damaged to such an extent that the qualities for which the resources were intially designated are in danger of being irreversibly damaged or destroyed. Also included is a listing of additional Landmarks that exhibit potential damage or threats. About the Publisher Forgotten Books publishes hundreds of thousands of rare and classic books.
