Ions detected were: M( - ), X( - ), MX( - ), and M2X( - ) (M = Li, Na, K, Rb, Cs; X = F, Cl, Br, I). From measured appearance potentials and known dissociated energies, lower limits are given for the electron affinities of the alkali metals and the alkali halides.
