Bennett begins the year traveling to Northern France after being temporarily assigned to the 474th Infantry Regiment. He is eventually assigned to the 101st Airborne Division, 502nd Parachute Infantry Regiment. By April, Bennett is in Germany and eventually travels to Austria, Paris, and London.
