The Goldendoodle began being developed during the 1990s in both North America and Australia. The breed was originally being developed to attempt to create a hypoallergenic guide dog suitable for visually impaired people who have an allergy to dog hair. The Goldendoodle has three main coat types: the straight coat, the wavy coat and the curly coat. The straight coat lies flat the Goldendoodle's body and resembles the coat of a Golden Retriever.
