He turns to drugs and drinking to alleviate his problems, but they only make them worse. He is an emotional wreck and a recluse when he leaves his family to go to college in New York. There he tries to forget the past horrible year, but the past continues to haunt him and his dreams. His dreams become more vivid and more disturbing. When he returns home, he realizes he’s still in love. He then goes back to school and is determined to throw his emotions away and forget her and his dreams.
