He is believed to have immigrated to the United States in 1817. He married Maria Failor (1804-1891), daughter of Adam and Eve Auen Failor, in 1826 at North Middleton, Pennsylvania. They had nine children. He died in Steuben County, Indiana. Descendants live in Indiana, Illinois, Ohio, Michigan, Massachusetts, Missouri, and elsewhere.
