Book excerpt: Excerpt from Headache and Its Materia Medica In preparing the following pages for publication, it has been the endeavor of the writer to collate the accumulated experience of the Homoeopathic School of Medicine in such a shape as to place it readily at the command of the practitioner in the treatment of one of the most prevalent and painful maladies against which he has to contend. The sufferer from headache, too often believing that there is no balm in Gilead for his pain, bears in sullen submission the agony which is apparently inevitable, instead of seeking the relief which medical art should afford. It is probably true that in no other disease is careful discrimination and judgment more necessary in the selection of the remedy than in headache, if the best results are to be obtained; it is equally true that the similimum being found, no other disease is more amenable to treatment. If this work shall assist the physician, who has a doubtful or obscure case to treat, to find more readily and easily the similimum, its object will have been accomplished.
