Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Human Health Risk Assessment Templates (HHRATs) are provided to aid the unfamiliar reader with the human health risk assessment (HHRA) process. The guidance follows the US EPA framework per the Superfund requirements for hazardous waste sites. The report provides an overview of the HHRA process. The appendix includes: tools assessment for fate and transport models, risk analysis and data handling; information resources; templates; and a process flowchart. The specific templates consist of: requirements; exposure scenarios; exposure assessment; chemical of concern (COC) data; dose-response evaluation; risk characterization; data gaps; and uncertainty assessment. The critical portion of the HHRA is the initial planning and coordination with various stakeholders such as regulatory agencies, public, industry, other governmental agencies and risk managers. The risk assessor should verify the "best practices" that are preferred by the stakeholders and integrate their use into the workplan. Once the risk assessment is underway, the risk assessor should assist the risk manager with communications requirements. The risk assessment can be conducted in a tiered process with each iteration providing more useful information that reduces the uncertainties.
