The author had in tended to enlarge the work, by the introduction of additional matter, derived from the history of the Christian church; with a view to make it clearly evident, that infant baptism has prevailed from apostolic days. For this purpose, ample materials are at hand. On further reflection, however, it has been thought best to send it forth in its original form. It was designed to be a convenient manual, for the benefit of the disciple who desires to know the will of his Lord.
