Book excerpt: Summary: "This proceedings contains close to sixty papers on various aspects of electronic publishing that have been successfully submitted for the 11th ELPUB conference, hosted by the Vienna University of Technology, Vienna, Austria. The ELPUB 2007 conference was dedicated to exploring the various aspects of "Openness in Digital Publishing", most of the papers deal directly or indirectly with issues related to open standards, interoperability, open content, open access, and new business and publishing models enabled by new tools and frameworks. Unlike previous ELPUB meetings where papers were streamed into "General" and "Technical" sessions, papers this year were grouped according to common themes, regardless of whether the papers were more technical or general in nature. These themes are: Open Access and New Publishing Models, Emerging Business Models for e-Content Delivery, Enabling Accessibility, Development of Repository and Publishing Tools, Assessment of Open Access and Enabling Frameworks, Open Access Journals and Regional Perspectives, Ontology and Meaning Extraction, Digital Heritage and Access, Impact Analysis and Open Access Journals, Web 2.0 and Social Media, and Interoperability and Open Repositories."--Publisher description.
