Book excerpt: Description: This series (5 folders) consists of letters, postcards, and greeting cards from Loreley Mobley, multiple locations, to his fiancee, Miss Beata Placek, Cleveland, Ohio. During this time Mobley was training at U.S. Navy Pre-Flight School, Athens, Georgia; U.S. Naval Reserve Aviation Base, Memphis, Tennessee; U.S. Naval Air Training Center, Pensacola, Florida; and U.S. Naval Air Station, Pensacola, Florida. Several letters have newsletters enclosures. Photographs of Placek were sent in August, but it is uncertain which letter the photographs were sent in. The correspondence ends in September once they are married on 25 September 1943.
