Lavishly illustrated and with a substantial text, which draws heavily on the works of Vedder (see no. 157), its principal themes - endemic tribal warfare in pre-colonial Namibia, German brutality, South African economic benevolence and political liberality, and support from tribal leaders - set the pattern for a series of similar publications in later years.
