Captain Alexander Fancher (1812-1857), a descendant of Richard Fancher (fl. 1725-1764) who is thought to be the brother of Catherine Fancher, was one of the leaders of a wagon train of Arkansas immigrants enroute to California that died during the Mountain Meadows Massacre in southern Utah in September 1857. Relatives and descendants lived in Arkansas, Tennessee, Texas, Michigan, New Jersey, New York, Connecticut, Ohio, North Carolina, Oregon, Washington, California and elsewhere
