The history of treatment of ADHD is reviewed. Symptoms, characteristics, and problems associated with ADHD are identified. Most importantly, this thesis examines several dietary interventions used in treating the disorder. The Feingold diet, Oligoantigenic diet, herbal supplements, and vitamins and minerals are considered as possible treatment methods. Herbal supplements such as Essential Fatty Acids and Hypericum Perforatum (St. John's wort) and minerals including iron, zinc, and magnesium are discussed. Research completed for this thesis determined that dietary interventions can effectively treat elementary aged children with ADHD."--leaf 3.
