This volume provides detailed explanations of statistical concepts such as longitudinal data, missing data, covariates, biased-coin randomization, repeated measurements, and simple randomization, which are used in creating and analyzing the data gleaned from clinical trials. Volume 1 also presents several detailed overviews of various trial designs that can be found within the various phase I-IV trials, such as adaptive, crossover, group-randomized, multicenter, non-inferiority, non-randomized, open-labeled, preference, prevention, and superiority trials. In addition, an overview is presented of various clinical trials that are currently active, including AIDS clinical trials group (ACTG), early cancer & heart disease clinical trials, multiple risk factor intervention trial (MRFIT), and mother to child human immunodeficiency virus transmission trials.
