Book excerpt: I started to write these stories after our first squadron reunion in Washington D.C. in 1983. I would tell these stories and everyone kept telling me I should put them in a book. At first I didn't think I could come up with enough material for a book, but as we started to have regular ship's reunions I kept remembering more stories. As a matter of fact this book was never meant to be a narrative type book but rather a series of short stories. This book is not all about sea battles and shooting at each other or torpedo runs at the enemy, other authors have covered that pretty well. I guess I can say this book will also show that there is a little humor in time of war but it is also not a book of comedy.
