The first of these communications, although bearing the date of December 11, was not mailed until December 26, and thus evidences ample time for reflection and consultation before promulgation. Although, this correspondent had the personally written assurance of the editor that my comment editorially had no reference what ever with your letter of the fourteenth of October and I had no reason whatever to take any exception to that communication. No one deprecates more thoroughly the introduction of 'factional spirit' in pharmaceutical circles than I do and my pointing out the danger of such was certainly not to be construed as an endeavor to encourage same, nevertheless, he insists upon its publication.
